Visioscan® VC 98 USB

• The Measuring Principle

  The camera features a high resolution b/w video sensor and a ring shaped UV-A light source (proven to present no hazard to normal human skin) for uniform illumination of the skin. The camera can be connected directly to the USB port of your computer. The pictures are displayed in 256 grey levels. Wrinkles appear dark in the image; scaliness is shown in bright pixels. The software calculates a variety of interesting parameters on the images.

  • The evaluation method SELS (Surface Evaluation of the Living Skin - developed by the Institute for Experimental Dermatology, Prof. Tronnier, University of Witten-Herdecke, Germany) analyses the grey level distribution and allows the calculation of four clinical parameters to quantitatively and qualitatively describe the skin surface as an index: Skin smoothness (Sesm), Skin roughness (Ser), Scaliness (Sesc), Wrinkles (Sew).

  • In addition to the valuable SELS calculations also other interesting parameters can be calculated: Lines can be drawn on the images and the profile and the results are shown immediately. Roughness indexes for up to 180 lines arranged vertically, horizontally or circularly are immediately available.
  • Special parameters have been created to describe virtually the skin topography volume (mm²) and unfolded surface in %.
  • Ageing parameters as anisotropy (directionality of the lines) and corner density (density of the line crossing) are to your disposal.

  • Evaluation of desquamation (scaliness/dryness) of the skin with the foil Corneofix® F 20. A desquamation index is calculated.
  • Determination of sebum production with the foil Sebufix® F 16. The sebum production of each sebum gland can be monitored in real time on the screen.
  • Additional interesting functions e.g. hair length measurement after shaving or length measurements on lesions possible.
  • The Visioscan® VC 98 USBcan be used together with the Skin-Visiometer® SV 700 USB as combination instrument.
  • Worldwide established method with a variety of interesting studies. The Visioscan® has even repeatedly been used on ISS space missions.

  • All results can be stored, printed out together with the images and exported to spreadsheets (Microsoft Excel®).
  • Easy and quick calibration of the system in mm (x and y direction) is possible at any time.
